Lake Monona is a freshwater lake located in Dane County, Wisconsin, USA. It is the second largest lake in the Yahara chain of lakes and covers an area of approximately 3,274 acres (12 km2). The lake is fed by Yahara River and is situated about four miles from the city center of Madison. Lake Monona is known for its picturesque beauty and recreational opportunities such as swimming, boating, fishing, and other water sports. It is also the site of several cultural events, including the annual Ironman Wisconsin Triathlon and the Wisconsin State Capitol's Fourth of July fireworks display.
